There’s nothing worse than spending a ton of time creating a gorgeous freebie in Canva, putting it out into the world and then it ends up doing nothing for your business…either people aren’t downloading it at all, or people are downloading it and then unsubscribing from your list, or they just never become buyers. 😬
But fear not! Here's the secret sauce to making your lead magnets the life of the online party:
Make it Irresistible (aka: something people actually want)
If it's not solving a real problem for your audience, why would they bother? Time to get your detective hat on and ask around—what's keeping your peeps up at night? That's your golden ticket. Where do you ask - simple: ask your past and current clients, ask in Facebook groups, ask in Instagram polls or DMs. Just start gathering a bit of info. Or find out what kind of questions they are asking. What do people want to know about your niche and how can you help them solve a problem quickly?
Keep it short and sweet and easy to consume
Don’t give them a 45 minute video or a 29 page e-book. Less is definitely more! Give them something that is quick to consume and has a big impact. And don’t make them jump through hoops to get it. Just because it’s free doesn’t mean people are willing to give up their time and patience for your freebie. Make it easy to get, and easy to consume, other people will bail.
Give your new subscribers a quick win
Don’t just feed them more information, don’t add to their already giant to-do list. Allow them to have a quick transformation of some kind because of what you’ve given them. And show them how you can help them move forward on whatever journey they are on.
Lead them to your core offer
You want to solve a small problem for them that will then allow them to focus on their next larger problem: the problem that you’re able to solve with your core offer. Your lead magnet should be the natural journey towards your offer.
Always provide high value
Leave them wondering why you’re giving away something so fantastic for free. And leave them thinking ‘if this is what they provide for free, then I can’t wait to see what I am going to get when I buy their program!’ Your lead magnet shouldn’t be fluff - you want it to be the wow factor that will have them coming back for more.
