The Surprising Secrets To Attracting Your Ideal Clients
Jun 05, 2024
Why can it be so hard to find clients or customers? It can be really frustrating, can’t it?
Either, you’ve got no leads, or you’ve got the wrong leads. Either way, it’s not helping your business.
If finding leads, and more importantly, amazing leads is like pulling teeth, then read on. I want to talk about a few things that make this a bit easier for you.
Before we go any further though, I’m not going to give you tips about ‘how to go viral with reels’ or ‘how to add 10000 people to your email in 10 days’ - because going viral or adding 10000 people to your list will not help you build a successful, sustainable business, those are just vanity numbers.
You want to bring in leads that are aligned with you and your business, and want what you’re selling. Iin order to do that, you are going to need to do some work, not just with your business, but on yourself. Why? Because as an entrepreneur you’re going to have to
- face challenges,
- take risks,
- be adaptable,
- and stay focussed.
So let's talk about the mindset that you need to have when you’re working on lead generation (which, by the way, is always).
Here are 8 ways you can adapt your mindset when it comes to calling in your ideal client:
Believe in the Value you Offer
You need to have confidence not only in your product or service, but in your ability to provide it. Know that your product or service is changing lives. For you, it might be the simplest thing in the world, and you might have a hard time accepting that it’s not something that comes naturally to everyone else. But, you might have exactly what someone needs to get them unstuck, or exactly what someone has been looking for. And when you truly believe in your value, it resonates with potential clients.
Focus on Relationships, Not Just Numbers
generation is about building genuine connections rather than just collecting contacts. I know that we often think about our email list in terms of numbers, but I want you to start thinking about it in terms of the individuals on it. When you’re writing an email, think of writing just to one person. When you’re producing a new lead magnet, think of what would be the perfect solution for one particular person.
Understand your Ideal Client
Know who you're targeting and what their pain points are. Imagine speaking directly to your dream client. Understand their needs and tailor your message accordingly.
Embrace Consistency and Patience
Successful lead generation requires consistent effort and patience. You can’t have someone join your email list and then expect them to become buyers immediately. It's like planting a garden. You need to water it regularly before you see the blooms. But instead of watering your email list, you are nurturing them by providing value, showing them what you have to offer, letting them get to know who you are as a person. This is what we call building your know, like and trust.
View Challenges as Opportunities to Learn and Grow
You are going to get plenty of no’s - lots of people will join your list and will never buy from you. Lots of people will join your list and then will unsubscribe. Lots of people will join your list and will never open your emails. These are all no’s - but every no is one step closer to a yes.
Innovate and Experiment
Don’t be afraid to try new strategies and adjust based on what works. I like to think of my entire business as a science experiment. Try something out, analyze it to see what works, and then ditch what didn’t work and repeat what did work. The most important thing: leave your emotions behind. It’s all an experiment. If one of your lead magnets didn’t land, then that’s not a reflection on you, it’s just not what your audience is looking for - tweak it and try again.
Stay Authentic and True to Your Brand
Authenticity builds trust, which is crucial for lead generation. Share your story, be yourself. People connect with genuine narratives. When ChatGPT first came out I dove right in. Why? Because I’ve always told myself that I was a horrible writer, and I was thrilled to have something write for me. Lately though, I’ve ditched ChatGPT except for things like brainstorming ideas. I’ve been doing all of my own writing and people have noticed - I am getting way more responses to my content and people are replying, saying that they are loving what I am saying.
Leverage Technology and Tools
There are so many great tools out there to streamline and optimize your lead generation process. From CRM systems like Dubsado and Honeybook, to email marketing platforms, technology can make your efforts more efficient and effective (two of my favourite words!). I love using tags to create segments in my email list so that I can send out content that is particularly relevant to certain audiences based on how they’ve answered a quiz, or what lead magnet they’ve downloaded, or even what they’ve purchased in the past.
I hope at least one of these 8 tips will help you manage the frustration of finding the right leads for your business. Rest assured, you will find your ideal leads, or rather they’ll find you.
